Midnight Journey

I’ll be gone for awhile
tonight I’m heading out of town
I’ll call you when i can
But until then, hold it down
Things will be better
when you see me back around
wipe that frown off your face
I’m in your life to make things better

You’ve been good to me
since we met in the summer
My heart was Swiss cheese
and you melted it like butter
Now there is no milk and honey left
The party has been over
But i have a clear mind and my thoughts are sober

Some gamblers don’t know when to fold their hand
until they lose every dime
When you know the hurricane is coming
can’t keep skylarking outside
Not going to wait until the door’s kicked in
when i could do my own time
Being stubborn doesn’t mean my eyes aren’t open

You won’t see me in the morning
I won’t call you before noon
Might feel like forever
But the mission will end soon
Don’t wait for me by moonlight
holed up sleepless in your room
I’ll be back returning once more,
i promise
