Broken Wine Glass
-Josiah Vermont
We’re all fragile crystal goblets
bubbling with life or filled with poisonous doom
Want me to gently set you down now
Don’t want to be shattered, spilled
or spewed out across this room
Am i too self-centred or inconsiderate?
Do you prefer to remain free?
If we forgive, trust and compromise
we just might pair well eternally
A life before, your heart was broken
and miles away i was mismatched
You used your legs like a sprinting champion
while I raced through pouring rain until i crashed
Have you forgiven him for his petulance?
Have we left both of them in the past?
A hint of joy, a taste of hope..
Let’s make this last
