This landscape is raped ugly
Concrete, asphalt, stucco walls
Playgrounds are cold shale gravel pits
to soften short light falls
The air here is polluted
Cost of gas still going up
Who needs carbon taxes
when your infant brings an empty cup
and tells you “Daddy, I’m thirsty!
Can you get me water please?”
(And you know tap water, filthy
Would be better fluoride free)
And the job which you’re forced to slave
by needs and wants instead of whips and chains
doesn’t pay enough to budget for clean water
It just steals your family time away..
So you say “Give me a second”,
then run the tap against your will
(It’s a catch 22,
you still pay the utility bill)
So you fill your child’s tumbler
and as they look into your eyes
You wonder how you’ll teach them,
ciphering through
All the propaganda and the lies..
They’re distilling us slowly
