Nothing Lasts Forever
-Josiah Vermont
She’s putting on pounds
like her first love is McDonalds
And the love they used to share,
he doesn’t want it anymore
Been so long since she got flowers
that she can’t even remember
Her life exists from meals to diaper changes
for his little girl and boy
And sometimes she’s a train wreck
scattered all over
All the Prince Charmings couldn’t piece her
together again
And sometimes she feels like a modern
Robinson Crusoe
deserted on an island
without any friends
I guess the blue canopy
can become grey tomorrow
This life we witness growing around us
tomorrow can be dust
I guess the sweet love we once shared
could be gone now forever
And these 6 cylinders dragging us
will get eaten by rust
Nothing lasts forever
Nothing lasts forever
I guess nothing lasts forever..
don’t bet on us
He was a real nerd in school
the kid everyone would pick on
Bread-begging threads
but his grades were good
Outside of the classroom
he was laughed at and spit on
lunchtime sometimes they would
even steal his food
But now he’s grown up..
tall, strong, and wealthy
Car and house paid for,
he’s titled CEO
And all those faces that back then
wouldn’t glance in his direction
would now simply be happy as
somebody’s that he used to know
And I guess magnetic grey
can become azure tomorrow
Every blooming flower
was once a spec of dust
I guess every winter I starve through
is just a prenatal summer
and with maintenance
we can avoid engine rust
And I hope you last forever
yeah I hope I last forever
said I hope we last forever
always as us
