You believe in confessing
I don’t believe in telling secrets
You get down on your knees
while i rock back and forth
You’re into water baptism
while my covenant is circumcision
How can we discuss marriage
as spider and fly?
Yet still we talk
still we tango
This fish and fowl,
this goat and sheep
While birds of a feather
flock together
Only fools try to connect
what was not meant to be
Still, even in nature
fish sometimes fly through the air
and even within nature
fowl dive in the sea
You say “if we have a little faith
we can work this out”
give thanks for the food
but somehow
i don’t believe
