You Tell Me Exodus
-Josiah Vermont

You tell me “exodus”, you’ll be leaving at dawn
If you would remain, you’d view me as a plague
You need some space, the messenger of time brought change
Sure, promises were made, but you don’t feel the same

Niagara’s on my face
The Falls spill on the page
Whispered you loved me and
nothing would ever change that
And you still stir me up
within each step you take
Each crease in your face
but you no longer believe that

Shoulda seen it coming, was it something that i did?
Was it something i once said, something I can’t take back?
Say i must have been blinded the times i left my feelings hid
Or were my eyes closed to the truth hoping it would fade out?

The Jordan’s on my face
The Dead Sea is on the page
You whispered “i love you and nothing
will ever change that”
Here i still see the beauty
within each step you take
Each letter in your face
yet you won’t believe that

Spent my whole life searching, keep light glowing in my life
Don’t let my world grow dim, don’t turn away your face
Return to me once more, I promise no more infidelity
Don’t abandon nor cast me off in my old age

and no Niagara on your cheeks
or Dead Sea in my days
You know i love you and
nothing will ever change that
And i still see your beauty
within each step you take
Each morning we awake
want you to feel that
