Broken Wine Glass
-Josiah Vermont
We’re all fragile crystal goblets
Bubbling with life or filled with poisonous doom
Want me to gently set you down now
Don’t wanna be shattered, spilled,
or spewed out across the room
Am i too self-centred or inconsiderate?
Do you prefer to remain free?
If we can forgive, trust, and compromise
we just might pair well eternally
A life before, your heart was broken
and miles away i was mismatched
You used your legs like a sprinting champion
and i raced through pouring rain, until i crashed
Have you forgiven him for his petulance?
Have we left both of them in the past?
A hint of hope, a taste of joy,
let’s make this last
