I forgot to pick up milk,
maybe I left the door unlocked
Forgot to have your oil change done
and get your Michelins swapped
Forgot to take the garbage out
and to turn the Netflix off
Forgot your needs from me have changed
since when a Bench sweater was enough
But I remembered you in Edmonton
Winnipeg, Sault Ste Marie
Remembered you down the I-95
to Hwy 1 through the Florida Keys
From the base of the Appalachians
to the shadows of the Great Rockies
Gazing up at midnight skies I wonder
do you still think of me?
Could be the stars that shine tonight,
tomorrow will cease to glow
Might be the nuclear waste we’ve buried
will melt all the Arctic snow
Maybe the decision between these two politicians
is death by water versus death by smoke
Or maybe this is the one time in your life
Where you really need to vote
Still, I remembered you in Niagara Falls,
Sudbury, and St Augustine
Remembered you in the Old City shuk,
Be’er Sheva, and by the Dead Sea
I remember you from Northern Lakes
and campfires under Spruce and Pine trees
As these photographs and ink and memories fade,
I wonder..
Do you remember me?
I Remember You
